Domain Name Generators

Choosing and registering an internet domain name can be nerve-wracking. Many times, the domain name you want to register has already been taken, so you have to think of another one. It’s entirely possible that that domain name will be taken too. Under pressure, it’s difficult to think of something unique and memorable. One thing you might try is using a domain name generator. A domain name generator is just what it says: a creator of names not likely to have already been used. There are basically three different techniques by which these word: using suggestions, giving random names, and giving names based on input.

Domain name generators that base names on human creativity generally charge a fee. Some of the fee goes to the person responsible for coming up with the domain name – a sort of “finders fee.” After the generator company receives your fee, you provide them with information related to your website and they come up with a name for it.

Random domain name generators are another source for domain name suggestions. Makewords.com and Domain-Generator.net are two sites that do this. The only thing you have to do to get suggestions is to click a button or just go tot he site. Depending on the complexity of the name generated, you’ll be able to choose suggestions that are unlikely to have been previously registered.

Another kind of domain name generator gives suggestions based on human input. One example is 123Finder.com. The user types in a keyword that describes the overall purpose of the website. The domain name generator the produces several domain names containing this keyword. Some services like this require a user to enter more than one keyword. It would then return suggested domain names containing a mixture of the input keywords.

There are human consultants who do this, too. You give them information, and when they’re done, the customer receives a list of domain names generated by a real human rather than a computer based word generator, which is what the types listed above are.

There can be potential downsides to using a domain name generator. Human-based domain name generators often require a fee, and computer based ones may not be very creative. But if you take their offerings with a grain of salt, domain name generators can be great tools for either finding you a good domain name or inspiring you to think up one on your own. Once you get a number of suggestions into your mind, it can be much easier to come up with a usable domain name. So if nothing else, domain name generators can be used as a brainstorming tool for choosing a good domain name.
